While more and more people are opting to get tattoos placed on their bodies, we've also noticed an increase in the number of patients requesting tattoo removal services. Here at Laser Technique, we utilize the most advanced laser available in the treatment of tattoo removal. The Conbio MedLite
Q-Switched Nd:YAG & Candela Q-Switched Alexandrite laser
laser removes tattoo ink with the energy of light. The absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to destruct. The ink is then removed by the body's natural filtering system. Q switching, sometimes known as giant pulse formation, is a technique where a laser can be made to produce a pulsed output beam. This method has proven to be effective in removing unwanted ink marks on a person's body.

FAQ Tattoo Removal at Laser Technique
How Laser Tattoo Removal Works?
Lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles that are then removed by the bodies immune system. Researchers have determined which wavelengths of light to use and how to deliver the laser's output to best remove tattoo ink. (If you're wondering if the laser might also remove normal skin pigment, don't worry. The laser selectively targets the pigment of the tattoo without damaging the surrounding skin.)
Will the laser definitely work on my tattoo & why are some tattoos harder to remove then others?
Before any treatment begins you will receive a thorough and honest consultation and detail the results you can expect to achieve based on your tattoo.
There are many different things that can affect the ease of your tattoo removal including your skin tone, the size and location of the tattoo, the color of the tattoo, the type of ink used and the individual's ability to heal.
Generally black, red, dark orange and dark blue tattoos will respond relatively quickly to laser treatments. Green, purple, brown, light orange and light blue may require more visits.
Other variants also include how evenly the pigment was injected into the skin, and how long the tattoo has been in place.
Remember to bring a list of any questions with you to your free consultation.
What are the treatments like?
Some patients say they feel a slight sting, like the snap of a rubber band on the skin or the same feeling as getting a tattoo, in a fraction of the time. Some patients feel more comfortable numbing the area with a high-power topical anesthetic cream mixture, which is available at our office.
How many treatments will I require?
Removing a professionally applied tattoo is usually a fading process that requires a series of treatments spaced at least six weeks apart. Each treatment only takes minutes. Professional tattoos usually require 5-10 treatment sessions for satisfactory clearing. The depth, color and amount of ink, as well as the location of the tattoo on the body is all determining factors in how quickly the tattoo can be removed. Most amateur, "street tattoos" and traumatic tattoos are removed in fewer treatments.
Does the procedure hurt?
Almost every patient we treat compares the pain from the procedure with that of getting the tattoo applied. A key difference is that laser tattoo removal is much quicker - most treatments take only a few minutes for completion. Patients compare the discomfort with that of a rubber band snapping against their skin. Black ink tattoos are slightly more forgiving to remove than colored tattoos due to the wavelength of light we use to break up the ink.
What will my skin look like after the treatment?
Right after your treatment, your skin will have a white discoloration, and the area around the tattoo may become reddish and could have some swelling. This is normal and will disappear slowly over time. Results take about 5 – 6 weeks after each treatment. Immediately after treatment, antibacterial ointment and gauze will be applied to the treated area to minimize infection.
What Can I Expect After the Treatment?
Following treatment at Laser Technique's Med Spa, patients should be sure to keep the area as clean as possible. A shower or bath the day after treatment is okay, but the treatment area should not be scrubbed. Your skin might feel slightly sunburned for a couple of days and the treated area may remain red for a few weeks. The site might also form a scab, which should be handled gently. After healing, the ink will gradually and continually fade.
